I found this little gem on Zomato and decided to try it out for breakfast one morning. We went on a Saturday morning at around 10am and there was a waiting list! Yes a waiting list! Upon entering the little cafe, my eyes were overwhelmed with all the “stuff” I saw. I say “stuff” because that’s exactly what it is. Trinkets, old bells, bicycles, typewriters, antique suitcases, LP’s , goblets, lampshades, everything you would find in a thrift shop decorated the inside of this little cafe. Did I mention that most of these things are for sale?
The tables and chairs are different sizes, colours, and shapes. The cake stands and shelves are filled with freshly baked pastries and breads. As we were 3rd in the queue, they gave us a wooden spoon to indicate our number (very original).
While I waited for a table, I took a look around and realised that right next door is a costume shop. You can get to the costume shop through the cafe and I didn’t even notice the wait time as I was too consumed with trying on different quirky outfits. If you ever looking for hiring costumes, then this is the place to go.
After a short wait, we were escorted to our table and handed menus. The menu was filled with all things delicious and it was hard choosing. I went for something called the “roasted tomato” and basically it was poached eggs, fried mushrooms, ciabatta and roasted tomatoes. My hubby tried the the “simply eggs + pesto+ toast” – which was 2 poached eggs served on ciabatta with pesto and tomato jam. Both dishes were amazing! Everything tastes fresh and full of flavour. The bread is exceptional and I would go back to buy a few loaves of that Ciabatta.
I also tried there fresh juice which was yummy and healthy! BONUS! Definitely a must when visiting there.
I would definitely go again, but I would phone beforehand and book a table as it gets really full on Saturdays.
