It’s no secret that I LOVE Mugg and Bean. I’ve had so many easy cappuccinos in my life, I’m sure my financial contribution has helped to open more than a few branches.
When I received an invite from Hungry for Halaal to check out Mugg & Bean’s new summer menu at their fully halaal Kenilworth Centre branch, I obviously said yes! It wasn’t all about the food though, the company sounded good too.
Mugg & Bean are jumping on the health buzz train which is fantastic as we could all use more options.
The evening started with a tumeric ginger slush and a root beer ice cream shot. After the initial shock of tasting the tumeric ginger slush, I actually liked the fresh flavour. In my eyes, the winner was definitely the less healthy option – the rootbeer had me reliving childhood memories of drinking yummy Bashews.
Next up was a massive plate of starters – consisting of chicken wings, beef rashers, hasselback potatoes. I really enjoyed the corn fritters and nachos.
For mains, I loved the sweet Moroccan chickpea salad and the fiery chicken avo wrap. So much so, that I had the salad again this weekend!
After all that healthy food, we had to end the night off with some divine cheesecake (cheese is a health food right?) and a beautiful pink, beetroot latte.
Thank you so much to Hungry for Halaal for the invite and to KC Mugg & Bean for the wonderful meal. You can read more about the night here. It was also great to chat with the lovely ladies behind these blogs/ pages – My Hungry Husband, @Kauthar_B, Cape Town Halaal, www.saajida.co.za , Tabassum Smiley Aleem, Life and times of fireflies, Shiny Sequins Blog and I Love Foodies.
