I was lucky enough to be on a long enough vacay that I actually started to feel bored! Bored? Yes, bored. How wonderful isn’t that? On a long, leisurely day, hunger struck viciously. Boredom and laziness go hand in hand so off we went to find a nice early dinner.
I was so tired of eating at the usual places, I used my Zomato app to find a place I’d bookmarked. We headed to the halaal, Cafe on the Deck in Belvedere Road. We parked just outside the Pearl Spoon and followed the signs towards the place. I was a bit hesitant when I saw the quiet stairs leading up to the restaurant.
Anyway, up we went up to find a closed door. We peered inside and someone spotted us and welcomed us in. I was pleasantly surprised by the airy, fairy, fresh décor. The restaurant is large but there were only a few tables filled. Like I said, I was there at about 5pm so probably not the busiest time.
Our waiter was nice and didn’t mind my millions of questions about how the fruit juice was made. The waitress who served us later looked about as bored as I was that day. January y’know…
I had serious trouble deciding what to order. I was trying to be healthy but on the other hand, everything unhealthy sounded so tempting. In the end, I went for the best of both worlds – chicken salad and a side of onion rings. I’m glad I ordered the side of onion rings as the salad wasn’t too exciting. The chicken hit the right spot.
If you’re looking for a family friendly space that stays open late, consider giving Café on the Deck a try.
